The Post-October (slash) Uber-Early November Report. [05 Nov 2009|08:17am] sihk_rellik [ mood | cheerful ] [ music | The Exploited- "Maggie, You Cunt!" ] Well, October is finally over... and damn what a month it's been... Let's recap... well first off there were lots and lots of DJ gigs... pretty much from start to finish.... started off the month doing The 2009 Zombie Prom (which for the record those guys were absolutely amazing to work with!!)  as well as every Wednesday doing The Awakening@ Buck WIld (love that place)... The 2009 Miss Nightmerica Pageant (where I got to also host the pageant, hang with and sing on stage with Dr Chud of The Misfits)... got booked with The 69 Eyes... Rocked out a solid set at Alloy (despite being sick at the time)... (it's a fucking dog's life.. I'm telling you) Holllie spent fall-break with me... went to Discovery Place to see the Pirate exhibit... saw Zombieland @ The Epicentre Theatres in downtown Charlotte (which was just really cool)... actually I think I saw Zombieland 3 times all total lol.... umm ran a Road Show in Hickory, stayed in a really creepy motel there... and there was probably more shit that I cant remember right now. didn't get to DJ @ Hazmat, sadly the side room wasnt ready (and in my opinion wouldnt work anyway with such thin walls) and there wasnt room in the front room for a 4th DJ, which really sucked and was probably the worst  part of the month for me, but alas I still had a really good time and made the best of it.... just really wanna play that event... and indoors for gods sake (just keep reading if that doesnt make any sense to you lol) Saw KMFDM & Angelspit @ The FillWhore ( I mean Fillmore)... which was preobably the most oppressive corporate cookie cutter venue I think I've ever seen... can't smoke inside, no re-entry, $9 beers, jackass security staff, the works... however it did have fantastic sound and the show itself sounded great... even got to hang out with Angelspit for awhile who were kind enough to give me an autographed poster and a really cool "fuck fashion" button to add to my little horror-punk suit jacket. Overall a good time, though I doubt I'll ever go back to that venue again... personally I prefer my concerts in those smoky, dirty, little shit-holes with cheap beer, rowdy people and lots of mayhem, but that's just me. =) (and just let me+ go on record publically in saying FUCK LIVE-NATION!!!!) + my opinions are mine and mine alone and do not reflect anyones opinions but my own- so put that in your legal pipes and smoke it along with your own genitals plz kthx) (I mean there's other reasons to be that happy- but those first three are pretty good!) Spent an entire week working my ass off along with a handfull of others helping to renovate and prepare the club for the big Halloween event, a job that quite honestly should have been a hell of a lot easier than it ended up being, but sadly we didn't get nearly enough people showing up (well of course until the day of the show when they all had their hands out- pretty typical if you ask me)... this of course caused much stress and aggitation amongst those of us who were there working twice (if not 3 times) as hard.... thus taking away some of  the enjoyment of that week due to bad moods, frustration, etc. But it's whatever, the work got done... and sometimes it's tough... but it's all still worth it isn't it? Now On A Lighter Note: (I mean how THE FUCK can you NOT smile at this... it's a wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube-man!!!!) Anyways then I did The Purgatory Road Show on Devil's Night in Spartanburg, I did a good 3 song set... and got to spin some show music and then provide background noise for charity auctions... but no complaints- we all gotta take our turn there, it was just mine that time... also got to raise some money for a good cause (Hospice) and help make a difference, which I am all about.... contrary to popular belief I'm actually a very caring person, and this situation particularly hits close to home for me... I promise Im not nearly the monster, the asshole, the failure or the idiot I'm made out to be... in point of fact... Im fucking Awesome... just ask me =P Next day had to  turn around a few hours later to go bust more ass doing showday setup in Charlotte, then doing Danse Macabre, which was actually lots of fun despite the exhaustion, and all the rain... I got to spin a very good set which a good number of people actually came outside and enjoyed... of course it was raining off & on the whole night... and then the bottom fell out right as mine & Nitesynth's hour-long tag team set was starting... so had to cut it all off and shut it down.... did I mention it rained a lot?? IT FUCKING RAINED A LOT!! hahahah But no biggie... I got to play one good set... got paid... got to hang with lots of people... drink... and have the best damn Halloween I've had in years....  of course I had to leave about 2:00am or so because I had a major scare with my Mom... she has Sleep-Apnea and had stopped breathing for a few minutes only to be recessitated, medicated, and sent home to be monitored... thankfully it was just a scare and she's alright now... just gotta remember to always take those meds lest she give her little boy a fucking heart-attack haha. =) So that's October in a nutshell (okay, a big nutshell)... coming up in November... I think things will be even better... in fact they already are... I'm staying the week up in Cullowhee NC (at W.C.U.) spending quality time with the misses and enjoying this wonderful mountain weather (I absolutely LOVE the cold for those that didnt know)... then later on have gigs in Cincinatti Ohio (at the famed Harajuku Nights) , Augusta Georgia (at Sublimat with DJ Triskyl) and Wilmington NC (at Asylum- maybe my favorite goth event ever)... also got offered an opening slot with The Genetorturers though Im not sure I can swing that one being that its the day after Cincy.... and a few other big ones Im not gonna mention just yet.... let's just say this little up & coming DJ is raising his value and I won't be satisfied until I start being more of a top-pick around here. I'm also going to be buying my own personal decks and all that... so yeah... lots to look forward to for yours truly!! =) Anyways this is by far the most I've written in a really long time... and now I'm gonna grab a Code Red, smoke a couple cigs and crash out... hope everyone else had and continues to have a great fall season... till next time...
